Glossary Of Terms

Conjunction
2 or more planets occupying the same sign and the same degree. Usually considered to merge the quality of each planet into a single energy.

First Quarter Moon
Occurs when the Moon squares the Sun just after the New Moon. New developments occur that support the issues set in motion by the New Moon.

Full Moon
Occurs when the Moon and Sun are in opposition. Time of reaping what was sown under the New Moon.

Last Quarter Moon
Occurs when the Moon squares the Sun just after the Full Moon. The final resolution of issues brought about by the Full Moon. this cycle prepares us for the next cycle which begins on the New Moon.

New Moon
The Moon and Sun are conjunct. A time to plant the seeds you would like to see grow by the Full Moon.

Opposition
Two planets that occupy exact opposite points in space.

Square
2 or more planets that are 90 degrees apart. Usually considered to cause tension.

Trine
2 or more planets that are 120 degrees apart. Usually considered to be a gentle and benefic energy.

Void of Course Moon
The moon is considered to be Void of Course when it makes no major aspects before leaving its sign . The five major aspects used to make this judgment are the conjunction, sextile, square, opposition and trine. You are less likely to be grounded or clear during the Void of Course moon so you are usually advised to take a ‘back seat’, to set aside ambition, relax and reflect.
