Messages To Our Animals From A Pinball Machine

Our thoughts bounce around in our brains like the ball in a pinball machine. The levers of intention are set in motion and the ball propels around, hitting the walls of our brain, lighting up the machine one minute and dinging loudly another. Our minds can be all consuming for us – imagine how it is for the animal companion sharing our household picking up on this maddening frequency!

And we wonder why our animals do wacky things at times! Our animal companions are constantly, in a most loyal and wonderful way trying to understand and sometimes influence the cacophony of insanity they receive from our brains. And this is no small task!!

On top of it all, when we want some sort of specific behavior, or an illness comes into play with our companion, our minds have a very big role in the outcome.

Thoughts travel faster than the speed of sound! If you sat for a moment and watched all the thoughts you had in one minute – you'd be amazed at how many appear. And without realizing it – these thoughts or messages are being sent, broadcast and actually are manifesting for you in other realms of your life. So of course it's setting up the reality for your animals.

How does this come into play? Let's say you have a dog that sometimes acts aggressively toward other dogs. You go outside, you see another dog coming down the road – in your brain you think – uh oh – is my dog going to attack this dog? So there is image #1. Then let's say you are even aware of how much your mind influences so now you are going to take back that thought (yeah right!) But that is Image #2. So your dog has now had the double negative impression into their brain. You are the alpha – so they are taking the lead from you. The next thing you know, your body has tensed and you are saying – 'good dog' even though your physical actions are countering the words. Image #3 becomes a shaky version of you walking by as your voice tensely speaks and you can hardly unclench your hand from the leash. The dog is now racing through the images trying to find something to support the right action. And what is the right action with that many visuals? I personally would pick two out of three.

Telepathy is the transference of pictures, words and feelings. If I tell you right now to think of your car – in a nanosecond, you've come up with an image of your car. That's how fast our brains create pictures. Even if you think you are not a visual person, that doesn't mean your mind isn't working in this way – it's just that you don't perhaps perceive in that way. But your mind is still at work creating pictures.

What if you have a cat that pees out of the litter box. When you are at work, concentrating on a project and you think about (with mild panic) – I hope my cat isn't peeing on the carpet today. Telepathy knows no time or space. Even in your office, even on an airplane, even on a beach in Mazatlan with a Pina Colada in hand watching the waves roll in – when you have those thoughts, it's as if you are sitting over the cat saying 'come on, please pee on the carpet!'

As you're driving to your barn and think Oh I hope my horse doesn't spook at the flag again today – guess what?

This doesn't mean that there aren't emotional or physical things to trigger this behavior. Your dog may have been attacked. Your cat may be 'pissed off' about something. Your horse may have had a flag blown into him. All of these things may be very real fears or responses that are grounded in some pretty big trauma or event(s).

But you can begin by always picturing the behavior/response you want – rather than picture the bad. And this is pure vigilance of thought on your part. I'm not saying this is easy.

One thing that may really help in this situation is creating affirmations around the behavior you want. As much as we think this is for them 'Sally – you love other dogs'…..it's almost more for us. 'Naomi – you love the new litter.' It's absolutely for us – so we can start recreating the picture in our own brain of what it is we want.

How does this affect illness? Well if you are looking at your dog with cancer – and he/she seems to be fine for the minute – you don't need to add 'poor missy' thoughts to the pot. It doesn't mean you can't grieve, or be afraid – but that should be momentary. 'Missy' needs your strength. So, 'healthy Missy'.

For many years I've taught animal communication in workshops. One of the reasons I encourage you to say these things out loud is because I know how fast the mind works. You think 'I hope my horse isn't afraid at the bucket sticking out – oh wait no I want her to not be afraid, I mean I'm supposed to have a positive thought about the bucket, wait I want to…' – and at this point you are mentally out of breath, here comes the out of proportion bucket and your horse has to EXPLODE!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD IT'S A BUCKET.

And who cares what people think if you are at work saying affirmations! Isn't it better than coming home to a urine smelling apartment? How do you know your work comrade isn't doing 54 Hail Mary's or 63 Sat Nam's in their own cubicle? And if they aren't maybe they should! Do they live with the looks, the sneers, not to mention the vet bills of the dog down the street that was bit by your dog? Wouldn't you rather stay on your horse?

I really encourage to not only visualizing the behavior you want for your animal but start speaking it out loud. Retrain your own brain as you retrain your animal's behavior. Send that ball of thought into pinball victory, less ding, ding, ding, dings, less blinking lights and more pure thought into action.
