The numbers, each number holds a principle, a symbol. Numbers are like concepts that expand, building upon the zero or past number/s. It is like the Fibonacci Principle starting with zero and unity. Example: 0+1=1, 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 2+3=5, 3+5=8, 5+8+13, 8+13=21 and so on. Visualize the Nautilus shell, as well as your eardrums. Each represent this principle as it expands out. Another ancient study is the Tree of Life. When you view this image there is a mirror, that which is above is also below. Each number as well as the planets has a position and principle on this tree. Numbers are energy and very rarely play out their message singly. Each number has positive as well as negative attributes. The goal is to become awake and find balance. One One brings uniqueness to all exchanges, a raw creative energy that needs refinement. One comes into being, seeing the possibilities. To bring new ideas to fruition requires courage and a pioneering spirit. This creative force recognizes no gender, religion or race. One is found in all numbers. Mind is important. Using the brain to devise new and original methods, refusing limitations, not losing individuality, one brings newness and uniqueness to the world of matter. To be able to imagine, one needs security and a solid foundation on which to test these ideas. There can be survival issues, feelings of insecurity, not having enough money, etc. These must be worked through. Mind is the tool for their survival; there is either a keen sense of self or a lack of self. This independent thinker and planner lives in the mental plane They are leaders and are competitive. They can even fear looking foolish. If they lack security, their energy is blocked. If there is no place for this raw rushing energy to find an outlet it turns on self in the form of addictions, food, sex, tobacco, alcohol and abuse. It is within fantasies and dreams tomorrow’s discovery resides. If the number one is in balance they bring creativity, enthusiasm, vitality, drive and inspired playfulness to the world. If the number one’s energy is suppressed they bring anger, guilt, petulance, emotional defensiveness, hypersensitivity and can be very pushy. Two For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction ---Sir Isaac Newton For manifestation to take place there must be interplay between tensions between the opposing forces. This is true on the macrocosm as well as the microcosm levels. Two’s learn the world of relationships, to ourselves, parents, siblings, friends, community and the enlarging world around them. When we enter the world of others, we must learn limitations, boundaries and finding a place of balance. Two’s seek relationships. This is so important to the two that they over cooperate as well as become co-dependent in relationships. Two’s must learning there will be times to give as well as receive. Being able to see both sides of an issue can hinder decision-making or prove to be excellent solution for diplomacy. Two’s will gather facts and statistics, sometimes getting stuck in the details. Two’s live under an emotional stress as the two poles pull in opposition of each other. This sensitive number needs to take into account their own feelings and needs. If two’s do not honor their feelings they become overwhelmed, then under-cooperation and conflict becomes apparent. If the number two is in balance they take responsibility for their lives. Two’s must learn to say no. Two’s are the peacemakers as well as the diplomats. They collect, assimilate and two’s love those shoes. If two's energy is suppressed, there is stubborn resistance as well as rigidity that shuts them down. Three There is an old folk saying that goes like this; “All good things come in threes.” The geometric expression for three is the equilateral triangle. To the ancient philosophers three is the first born of numbers. Three’s need to communicate and express joy. To speak with authenticity three’s must first find self. This, however, takes time. Time to sort through the many different levels of “shoulds” placed by family, religion, and culture before three can speak with honesty and integrity. This number that is about communication usually has a fear of speaking. Having a highly sensitive emotional field, three is hypersensitive to criticism. Threes must learn the lesson that many “do not get it.” How you feel about yourself will be reflected in every interaction you have with others. Self-esteem provides the foundation for every healthy decision. Three is finding the authentic self. (Now if you think this is an easy quest, see me in the den of illusions.) If three is in balance, three is enthusiastic, creative, self-expressive, social, and full of inspiration. If three’s energy is suppressed, three can be whiny, complaining, gossipy, critical, depressed and superficial. Four There are the Four Corners of the globe, the four elements of earth, air, fire and water, the four seasons and we all want a square deal as well as a square meal. If life is to have promise in matter, there must be a container; this container must have form and laws. Four learns the lesson of limitations, limitations of the environment, their own physical body and even their own individual limited viewpoint. The number four feels the need for security, structure, order and stability. This very analytical number (2+2) can get stuck in the details. Although four is usually not the originator, once the idea has been provided and an outline given, four will establish the rules and regulations, even the traditions that may be carried on long after them. The process provides the steps to freedom. These steps cannot be skipped, for if four becomes impatient with the process he/she will have to go back and start again. Were it is clear as to the intention, beginning, planning, taking action teamed with flexibility and persistence, four attains their goals. Dig into the four’s home, the place of security, foundation and safety and there can be unresolved issues. Abuse takes many different forms. If four is in balance, four is the salt of the earth---wholesome, dependable and the builder who follows a process for manifestation of dreams to take form. If four’s energy is suppressed, they lack flexibility, are tunnel visioned, dogmatic as well as rigid in their approach. Five The spirals of life surround us. Change is vital to life and there are times when patience is a weakness. Five is the keeper of the sword that must be swift and clean, so that justice and laws do not stagnate in their cause for life. This requires inner discipline and to be effective five must serve a Higher purpose. This multi-talented number must learn discipline. Having numerous interests and talents, they can become the “Jack” of many and the “Master” of none. Change is necessary for transformation; however, without discipline, five scatters this versatile energy and goes nowhere. Five’s gets bored with routine; their mantra is “give me freedom.” True freedom is only attained by inner discipline. The number five must find one passion and stay with this even if they are bored and restless. Depth, not breadth is needed to gain self-mastery. If five focuses on outer freedom, there is self-doubt and can find themselves in dependent situations. What in your life needs the sword of change? If five is in balance, they are disciplined with a focused clarity of their intentions as well as being versatile, vivacious, curious and quick-thinking. If fives energy is suppressed, they can become bossy, controlling, manipulative and try to bluff their way. Abuse of the five senses such as alcohol, food, drugs, addictions and sex can keep five from their freedom. Six Six is “just proportion” and it is called Beauty Three asks the question of “Who am I? Six expands out to the community as the gatekeeper between the higher consciousness and lower consciousness. Six’s are the visionaries of the numbers seeking harmony in the ebbs and tides of life. Maintaining high ideals and perfection in the world of reality opens the six to judgements and disappointments. One thing is assured in the search for perfection and that is failure. Responsibility follows six all the days of their life; learning the deep pleasure of handling responsibility is another matter. There will be times when others take advantage of six’s sympathetic and generous nature. Six then must learn to distinguish between help and interfering. Focusing so hard on “getting it right”, six does not know what they really feel. Acceptance of self and others-just how they are in the present moment is part of six’s journey. This “Cosmic Parent” is always a teacher, learning to accept self and others. (We live in a world that is addicted to perfection.) If six is in balance, they are compassionate, loving, feeling, responsible, accepts who they are in the present moment, gives to others the beauty of structure, order and form. If six’s energy is suppressed they can become judgmental, critical (self and others), unsympathetic, faultfinding, sacrificing and negative. Seven Measure seven times before you cut. –Carpenter’s saying Seven is the number of silence, meditation, as well as wise discernment. Seven’s operate on a different wavelength and can be difficult to understand as well as getting to know them. This intellectual number will gladly probe you with questions, if you, however, turn the questions back to the seven, watch the doors close. Needing their own inner process to think and sort out the facts does not lend itself to quick, off the cuff, answers. This need to analyze can create a distance among others. Seven is different. Seeking relationships, yet fearing betrayal, keeps relationships at a distance. This dreamer, philosopher and mystical seeker needs to find trust in their inner process and follow their instincts and intuitive feelings. Searching and researching to answer the questions and mysteries of the universe, seven “trusts” information outside themselves, while all along the answers are within. A great gift for the number seven - another book. If seven is in balance, they are accurate, broadminded, clairvoyant, and introspective and use their sharp minds in research or writing. If seven’s energy is suppressed, they can be distrustful, antisocial, impersonal, detached, melancholy as well as being empty-headed. Eight Success is sweet but usually has the scent of sweat about it. Anonymous Numbers represent principles that govern the world of matter as well as the principles of spirit. That which is above is also below; one the visible, the other invisible, like a mirror. Eight’s must learn the satisfaction of the material world and about the power that comes with it mastery. Bringing their executive, organizational abilities and ambitions to the material world, they seek abundance, respect and power. This is a mental number and they are meant to be leaders. To manifest this attainment, eight must follow the laws of above and below. They need to have inner confidence, not giving their power away to this inner fear of power. Eight must always work for the good of all. Money is a medium of exchange and it is the culture/society in which we live that places emotions, fears and perceptions around this medium. Abundance begins with the inner abundant self. If eight is in balance, they are realistic, dependable, practical, good at organizing and taking care of details. Working from inner confidence they apply their executive abilities efficiently and energetically. If eight’s energy is suppressed, they can abuse power, be biased, chauvinistic, procrastinate, materialistic, as well as lack confidence. Nine An old folk saying, “a cat has nine lives.” Nine is called the “finishing post” for it brings completion to the numbers before you go on to ten. Beyond nine is a new cycle and it is time to prepare for this. This sensitive number’s need for expression (3+3+3) is now in the form of “who they are”, for now they teach by example. Ignoring the very laws they seek to learn, nine learns the law of cause and effect. Learning is about the journey and this is what nine’s must do - they must address the consequences. Giving selflessly, without the expectation of return requires an inner self of love and understanding. This is not easy, especially if they feel as if they have “sinned.” There must be forgiveness of self first, before love can be given with integrity. Nine will learn their lessons by experience. Forgiveness can be difficult when there have been hurtful experiences, loss, sorrow and disappointment. Nine has a tremendous potential for imagination, intuition, sympathy and generosity. It is time to let go and connect mind and heart to Spirit. We each have a purpose and nine must answer this question “Am I serving my purpose?” A new cycle will begin regardless if nine is ready or not. If nine is in balance, they will have compassion, tolerance, forgiveness, be inspirational, broad-minded as well as selflessly in service to others. In nine’s energy is suppressed, they are judgmental, intolerant, rigid, stubborn, victimized, depressed, fearful and experience loss, sorrow and disappointments. We live in a universe of patterns; to not observe and recognize them is to be the puppet of these patterns. As the planets weave in and out of our lives the numbers will play out their drama. Choice only comes with awareness and being awake. The real voyage of Marcel Proust (1871-1922) French novelist |
